Heesen Yachts proudly presents YN 20457 Santosha, previously known as Project Akira, ahead of its delivery to seasoned owners this fall. This is the inaugural vessel in Heesen’s new 57-metre series, boasting a 780GT interior volume with exterior lines crafted by Frank Laupman of Omega Architects. Initially built on speculation, the yacht’s design was reimagined once the owners got involved, working closely with interior designer Harrison Eidsgaard and Heesen’s engineers to tailor the yacht to their preferences, transforming Akira into Santosha.
Santosha stands out as the first in Heesen’s 57-metre series. Designed by Omega Architects for the exterior and Harrison Eidsgaard for the interior, the yacht promises a top speed of 22 knots and a range of 3,900 nautical miles at 13 knots. Its shallow draft is perfect for cruising the Bahamas, featuring a luxurious 400 sqm interior and a 780 GT internal volume. Highlights include a glass elevator, a 35 sqm beach club, and accommodations for 12 guests in six staterooms.

The owners selected the name Santosha, a Sanskrit term meaning contentment, along with a lotus logo symbolizing inner peace and balance. As Peter Wilson, the Owner’s Representative, noted, the collaboration with Heesen has produced an exceptional superyacht. This marks their second project with Heesen, and they anticipate many more in the future. Santosha was first unveiled at the 2019 Monaco Yacht Show, showcasing a sleek silhouette and elongated profile. The sweeping arch and slightly raked bow provide an extended optical length, while the distinctive stern sets it apart in any marina.
The owners aimed for a relaxed yet elegant interior, a vision brought to life by Heesen’s craftsmen. The design incorporates sustainable materials like recycled wood, performance leather, and ‘art silk’ carpets. The interior’s free-flowing layout and neutral palette combine luxury with functionality. Design elements include woven leather accents around the TV in the sky lounge and reflective curved wallpapers. Art pieces throughout add a bold touch to the serene decor, balanced by pale floors and ‘art silk’ carpets.
The yacht’s nearly 70 sqm owner’s apartment features a study, a full-beam stateroom, and an expansive bathroom. Unique light fixtures and bespoke artwork make it a personalized space. The master bathroom, inspired by the Garden of Eden, showcases lush white-on-white bas-relief designs, marble, and a vanity desk. Central to the artwork is a snake, a symbol of renewal and healing, emphasizing new beginnings.
Guest quarters reflect the owners’ experience and understanding of onboard life, with practical yet elegant designs featuring curated artwork and contemporary photography. The light, airy aesthetics create a serene atmosphere.
Performance-wise, Santosha is a masterpiece of engineering. Featuring a full aluminium hull designed by van Oossanen Naval Architects and crafted by Heesen’s skilled welders, the yacht is powered by two MTU 16V 4000 M65L engines, reaching speeds of 22 knots with a transatlantic range of 3,900 nautical miles at 13 knots. Its 2.3-meter draft is ideal for exploring shallow waters.
Mark Cavendish, Heesen’s CCO, remarked that Santosha combines elegance and practicality, epitomizing Heesen Yachts’ dedication to excellence and innovation.
