In 2012, a devastating fire struck Sunreef Yachts’ shipyard in Gdansk, Poland, destroying four custom catamarans under construction.
Founder and CEO Francis Lapp, while on a trip to Turkey, received the shocking news and faced suggestions to close down operations. Instead, Lapp chose to rebuild from scratch, driven by the unwavering support of loyal customers.

Within a year, Sunreef not only launched the world’s first carbon superyacht catamaran but also earned Lapp the Entrepreneur of the Year award at the World Yachts Trophies in Cannes.
To strengthen customer relationships, Sunreef introduced the Yacht Forum, allowing clients to share their experiences. One standout story is the creation of the 2022 Sunreef 60 ALANDI, a state-of-the-art sailing catamaran.
Its owner, Andreas, praised Sunreef’s unmatched quality, commissioning a 60-foot vessel for solo or crewed sailing. ALANDI, often seen along Italy’s shores, offers luxurious accommodations for six guests in three staterooms, with teak and natural materials enhancing its sleek interiors.
Outside, the catamaran features alfresco dining areas on the bow terrace, aft cockpit, and flybridge.
A video documenting ALANDI’s creation, showcasing collaboration between Andreas, his wife, and Sunreef’s team, is available for viewing.
